RIT Libraries Strategic Plan
Increase Info Session Offerings
The Library proposes to create consistent and increased curriculum and non-curriculum library instruction opportunities across all colleges and disciplines.
To enhance this service, we propose to:
- Offer revamped and expanded Personal Technology Workshop sessions to include more technical sessions (i.e. DreamWeaver, Flash, Blogging, etc.).
- Promote sessions to students, faculty, staff, alumni, the River’s Run Community and the Rochester community at large.
- Offer traveling sessions that would bring our offerings to remote locations, such as the colleges.
- Enlist student involvement in teaching the basic courses.
- Bring in instructors (i.e. faculty/staff, alumni, or community members) to conduct some workshops.
- Explore software to allow capture of information sessions to present them online.
Goal B1: The hallmark of an RIT education will be teaching students how to learn, how to integrate and apply that learning within professional and personal settings, and how to communicate that knowledge.Goal A6: RIT degree programs much help students develop the transitional skills necessary for lifelong learning and career development over time.
Objective E 1.2: RIT will increase the affinity, connectivity and giving of alumni, parents, students and friends, by providing increased programming and outreach focused on each of these constituencies.

I think this is a great idea -- I often peruse Wallace Library's offerings and am disappointed that they don't go beyond the very basics. It can often be difficult to keep up on your skill set, especially working as a technical/computer/Web person and I would like to see the university expand its offerings to help us in that regard.
