RIT Libraries Strategic Plan
Multicultural Resources
The Strategic Plan for the Institute has a goal to foster an environment that supports and encourages global and international awareness and understanding.
To support this goal, the Library proposes to:
- Increase the collection of foreign language materials.
- Create a “multicultural space” where global news/culture will be shared with international and domestic students/faculty/staff/community members.
- Provide easy access to translation software.
- Increase computer support for foreign languages by installing multiple character sets on public computers.
Some of the elements of the RIT Strategic Plan addressed by this goal include:
Goal D6: RIT will provide a learning/living/working campus environment that supports and encourages global and international awareness and understanding. Objective D4.4: RIT will expand foreign language program offerings by: offering more advanced courses in languages already offered; offering new languages based on student interests and opportunities; developing short/intensive conversational courses; increasing recognition of foreign language learning through, for example, certificates, minors, dual majors, and Foreign Language Across the Curriculum (FLAC) programs; providing various instructional delivery systems; and expanding relevant library holdings.
