6: Deaf & Disability Laws and Resources

There are laws you should be aware of so that you know your rights when applying for jobs. Sometimes employers need more information. Here are some links to assist you and your employer in learning more about the laws regarding hiring of persons with disabilities.

You may want to educate your employer about the relay services and use this as a reference when you are traveling on job interviews.

Both TTY and voice callers can now use 711 to make phone relay calls. There is another alternative. Text users can make phone calls.Try AT & T online relay services or Sprint online relay services (voice callers cannot use this). You can save your phone call and print it out. An added feature is the Video Relay calls via the internet. You need a web cam and a high speed connection. You will sign and the interpreter will voice what you sign and sign what the voice user says. There are other online relay services you can check out.
