Consulting With People Knowledgeable on Your Topic

Why Consult?

Talking to people who are familiar or knowledgeable with your research topic will assist you in "learning the language" of a particular subject area. Information regarding background facts, key words, significant experts in a field, and professional associations may be located by contacting people who have experience or know how to find the information you are seeking.

Who do I Consult?

Depending on the topic of interest, there are people who can assist with locating the requisite information:

  • Iinstructors - can assist personally or point in the right direction
  • Librarians - trained in locating information - at the reference desk, by e-mail or phone (716.475.2563)
  • Professionals in the field - phone, stop by in-person or e-mail
  • Associations - phone or e-mail
    • check Einstein for association directories
