Many databases offer alert services that enable you to keep up-to-date on the most current research in a particular topic. Some alerts are sent periodically as emails; others may be received as RSS feeds. To set up an alert, databases typically require you to create a free personal user account and login.

In Internet Explorer, connect to Factiva, then click on "RSS" at the top to view Editor's Choice feeds.
To read the full text of articles via your feed reader, it is not necessary to enter a username/password. Simply open another window and connect to Factiva here. You will now be able to access articles through your feed reader. |

To set up New Issue alerts:
- Having logged into IngentaConnect with your username and password, choose "New Issue alerts" from Manage My Ingenta in the right-hand navigation.
- Click on the Add tab and browse or search to choose a title for which you would like to be alerted when new issue or archival content are made available.
- Check the box next to your chosen journal(s) and when you're done for that page, click on
at the top of the column.
If you exceed your limit of 5 free new issue alerts, you will be offered the chance to purchase an InTouch license.
To view your chosen New Issue alert, click on the Current tab within the New Issue alerts section of Manage my Ingenta in the right-hand navigation.

SDI Alerts
- Do a search. Click on the Search History button.
- Click the checkbox next to your search.
- Click on the icon to the right of your search to create an SDI.

- Create a personal account, entering your email address as your username.
- Fill out the form and click OK at the top.
Silverplatter does not have a Table of Contents alert but creating a search for your desired journal title in the Source field will give you similar results.
To view your alerts, choose the SDI link at the top of the screen. If prompted, login with your personal account (email address and password.)
