An Accounting Thesaurus: 500 Years of Accounting
R. J. Chambers has put together a book which acts like an OED for accounting terms and ideas. What is the OED? It's the Oxford English Dictonary and it is the best source to find out the derivation of words in English. An Accounting Thesaurus: 500 Years of Accounting acts in a similar fashion, though not as in-depth, by showing definitions and uses of accounting terms and quotations over time. The book is broken out in ten major sections including "Accounting in general", "Financial position and its elements", and "Income and income calculation". Each section then has terms and their uses over time. For example the thesaurus provides uses of the phrase "Liabilities described as dated debts" from 1899 through 1969.
