RIT Professor Assists With Debt Relief for Consumers

He has created a formula that can help people overcome by debt find some relief. Though this video is not captioned, the transcript is available in the library database Factiva. Once in Factiva run this search hd=EVENING NEWS for November 11, 2008, CBS This retrieves the transcript for that night's news cast and Dr. Manning's segment is about half way down. Factiva contains transcripts from all the major nightly news shows. The search term sn= followed by the name of a show can pull up a variety of transcripts. Such as sn=nbc news or sn=cbs news or sn=abc news: world You can copy and paste any one of these to do a search for the latest transcripts from each news show. sn= can also be used with the names of print publications like sn=wall street journal This is an indexing term unique to Factiva. RIT Establishes E. Philip Saunders College of Business

RIT announced today a gift of $13 million dollars to the College of Business from E. Philip Saunders. Mr. Saunders is an entrepreneur who founded Travel Centers of America and the Genesee Regional Bank among his many accomplishments. The donation will be used "to finance scholarships, recruit and support quality faculty, improve existing facilities, and create an endowment for future initiatives." Read more about the gift here.

News & Events Profiles Two of COB's Own

News & Events profiles two College of Business standouts in the May 18th issue. Professor Neil Hair is profiled in recognition of winning the Provost's Award for Excellence in Teaching. Ben Savory, owner of Savory Blends in RIT's Student Life Center, is also profiled as one of COB's entrepreneurship students who owns and runs an active business on campus.

COB Dean and Government 2.0

College of Business Dean Thomas Hopkins is quoted in the new book Government 2.0 by William Eggers. Subtitled "Using Technology to Improve Education, Cut Red Tape, Reduce Gridlock and Enhance Democracy," the book is based on hundreds of interviews with "politicians, researchers, technology industry CEOs and leaders, futurists, and front-line public employees." A recent article in Federal Computer Week by Eggers provides a snapshot of the work.
